This was a very pleasant notification to get. The making of monsters is one of my very favorite things to think about, and I'm always delighted to find someone who shares my thoughts about something so closely.
This is such a rich and resonant reflection. I especially felt your take on Medusa, how she embodies fear, power, and exile. And yet, I need to offer another possibility: what if she was never just a woman turned monster… but a monster from the beginning? What if that was her power—not a curse, but a kind of ancient divinity? The whole woman-turned-monster thing is a much later interpretation made up by the Roman poet Ovid. But it is the most dominant story so far. But Medusa truly represented something much more powerful than that. An ancient wild feminine force. I did a deep research of myth and wrote about it in my latest post. I invite you to read it. I am super happy I stumbled upon your text. Hope we can connect!
thank you for reading and sharing a very insightful analysis! yes, i’m aware of ovid’s interpretations of many greek mythologies including this one, so it’s always interesting switching between the two and putting them side-by-side. i read your post regarding medusa and it is very beautiful. you’re right, medusa is such a powerful feminine force!
i definitely think you've hit the nail on the head with this. monsters have always been away to "keep us in check" and i think that there's something so human about that sentiment. this was a beautiful read.
awwww thank you so much for reading!! you've got it spot-on, it is such a human thing to create these monsters to make sure we don't "stray from the path"
you have such a way with words. i'm not exaggerating when i say that every time i read one of your posts, my perspective on something monumentally shifts in the best, thought-provoking way
omg this made me tear up, thank you so much for reading and supporting my work :,) i try my best to read, research and expand my thinking about the world
It’s interesting how you were able to connect these ancient creatures to their modern counterparts by rooting it in their creation. A rather accurate foretelling of what the future folklore might hold.
